Teeny Tiny Things: January 2020

So following my last post I’ll continue to show you all the other strollers I made up last year.

After deciding to change the frame shape of my modern strollers to something a little more exciting and, I hasten to add, easier to construct I played with the design a bit more and found I could easily make strollers (or pushchairs as we call them in the UK), with multi positional seats and other attachments so this gave me an idea. I wonder if you ever seen those strollers that seat two children but instead of being side by side, one child sits slightly below the other. Well I decided to see if I could replicate this in miniature and this is how it turned out.

As you can see this twin stroller has two seats that will sit up or lay back although with limited space they don’t have a huge range of movement but I am still pleased with the outcome.

As I was working on another idea a lady contacted me regarding a car seat. I was already working on a miniature car seat but it had hit the back burner for a while since I was so busy with everything else. I retrieved my project and began making adjustments. I had decided that it would be possible to make attachments that would connect it to the stroller frame and all I needed to do at this point was some fine tuning. The fine tuning can still take a few weeks but eventually I had created a tiny car seat that sat on a stroller frame and her she is.

My lovely customer was very happy with this and that made me even more pleased with my creation. The tiny car seat also fits into most 1/12^th scale model cars which just adds to the fun.

As always, I am never happy so I set about making a stroller seat that would attach to the frame and could be removed and replaced with the car seat. This concept worked really well and not only this but the seat could be made to face forward or face dollhouse mom as well as sit upright or lay back fully.

So the result is a stroller with a multi-positional, removable seat that can face in either direction and an attachable car seat. The stroller seat is lightly padded with a full harness with a tiny side release buckle. The car seat can be attached to the stroller frame with two tiny attachments. The car seat has a hood, a removable handle; it is lightly padded and has a tiny three point harness. I made three which as all available by clicking here since I didn’t get chance to put them up for sale till this year.

Hello Mini friends,

Well its been over a year since I posted and this is pretty much because my mum sadly passed away in December 2018 and it did set me back a lot. I lost my motivation and while I continued to make some minis I am not sure really what was going on as the entire year seemed to fly past rather too quickly. Mum's are so incredibly important and obviously my life will never be the same but I'm trying to locate my motivation and replace my sorrow with new things. My last dog also passed away that year so I suddenly had a huge gap in my life and I felt a bit lonely despite having my family around me. Now, a year on I am aiming to do more with my time and I want to also share with you some of the processes I go through when I create my miniatures but for now I'll show you what I managed to make last year.

So, back to minis...

I had a request from a lovely lady for some teeny 1/24th scale prams so I did oblige even though it was a huge challenge. While I managed it, I don't think I ever want to make anything in 1/24th scale again because it's so fiddly. It is strange to think that one of my first mini makes when I was just eleven years old was a tiny 1/24th scale pram with an interchangeable pushchair seat, well it just shows you I've clearly loved miniatures since being a child.

Another pram I made but believe I never showed you is this pink cord pram, 1/12th scale this time. I made a tiny detachable pram toy to go with it. I made this pram using a printed frame I designed but I have already made improvements on these frames so future prams will be very different.

After this I spent a long time (rather too long) designing some new modern pushchair frames. I usually search the internet for inspiration before beginning my 3D design process on computer. I save lots of pictures and then work out the full size measurements and lastly I scale down. The strangest thing about scaling down is that perfectly scaled down objects don't always look right, often one has to adjust the dimensions a little and the naked eye proves a much more friendly tool. I created a new frame and then set about making a summer pushchair with a little canopy and a multi-positional seat. This seat can be lay back for a tiny baby or sit upright just like real life. I also found some very cute, and super tiny, side release buckles and I used these on the harness and here is the result.
