The cottage in DIY state

Well the cottage is coming along... I’ve been trying to work out the easiest way to create a nice stone wall without using some sort of stone, clay, filler or anything heavy.  I thought about plaster of Paris but that would be too heavy so I have opted for papier mache and card.  I have decided that if I cut flat stone shapes from a thick piece of card I can glue each one on top on scrunched up paper and then cover the whole thing with smaller bits of paper covered in watered down glue.  I’ll let you know if it works.

Meantime, I have finally finished the outer papier mache walls of the cottage.  When painted it should look like an old stone cottage, something like the walls in this pic I found.

And below is a few pictures of my ‘under construction’ cottage.

There is a long way to go yet but I can see it in my mind’s eye.  I’ll pop out tomorrow and get some paint and hopefully by the end of the week it should look closer to what I want.
