The cottage in DIY state
Well the cottage is coming along... I’ve been trying to work
out the easiest way to create a nice stone wall without using some sort of
stone, clay, filler or anything heavy. I
thought about plaster of Paris but that would be too heavy so I have opted for
papier mache and card. I have decided
that if I cut flat stone shapes from a thick piece of card I can glue each one
on top on scrunched up paper and then cover the whole thing with smaller bits
of paper covered in watered down glue. I’ll
let you know if it works.
Meantime, I have finally finished the outer papier mache
walls of the cottage. When painted it should
look like an old stone cottage, something like the walls in this pic I
found.
And below is a few pictures of my ‘under construction’
cottage.
There is a long way to go yet but I can see it in my mind’s
eye. I’ll pop out tomorrow and get some
paint and hopefully by the end of the week it should look closer to what I
want.

My craft space
Well After a long time away from crafts I decided to make
myself a special craft space and do what I love best... make small things, not
just small things but teeny tiny things, miniatures in a very appropriate 1/12th
scale.
I’ve now got a fantastic space where my clay, sewing machine,
paints and all my bits n bobs live. I
added three shelves to the wall a set of small draws, some old biscuit tins and
I have my own miniature crafting area. I
love it, it means I don’t cover the whole house in crafty things... well I do,
but not as much :)
